Frequently asked questions about Lisière
Before you log your first sighting.
No, on purpose. Lisière is a journal of outings: you choose the name, helped by iNaturalist suggestions, or you keep “to identify”. No recognition model is built in.
By default, only a zone of about 10 km (or 1 km, depending on your setting) is stored instead of the exact spot. That's what protects a rare orchid or a nest, even when you share an export. You can switch to an exact location for a given sighting.
No account. The journal works offline; only species suggestions, “Around me” and current weather need a network. Sun and moon are computed on the iPhone.
It only runs during an outing you start and stop yourself, with the iOS location indicator visible. Outside an outing, Lisière doesn't follow your location.
Yes: import the CSV export of your iNaturalist account, duplicates are skipped. The other way round, Lisière exports sightings as CSV and outings as GPX.
Every fungus carries a warning: identification must be confirmed, and you never eat a mushroom on the word of an app. Ask a pharmacist or a mycologist.
From iNaturalist, and only when their licence allows it (CC0 or CC BY), with attribution. Otherwise Lisière shows the category icon.
Lisière has no ads and no in-app purchases, and asks for no account.
